Generally, companies with liberal management philosophies are more likely to offer work at home positions. Several multi-national corporations like Microsoft offer work at home positions. Various companies also outsource their call-in support to home based agents.

But the opportunities are not limited to large Fortune 500 companies. Some small companies are willing to allow their employees to work from home. Ultimately, regardless of the size of the company, senior management will determine if employees are allowed to work from home.

Working at a smaller company may actually increase your work from home opportunities. Senior management is usually more flexible in small companies. But the nature of your work, your work ethic and your ability to work independently will be factors that will be heavily considered.

It should be noted that if you have been recently blessed with infants, you may have a higher chance of working from home. More companies are trying to become more family-friendly and are instituting work from home policies wherever appropriate.
