A severe yeast infection is a horrible thing for anyone to live with. Yeast infections occur when there is an abnormal overgrowth of the candida fungus in your system. What a lot of people fail to realize is that this fungus is a natural organism present in all of our bodies. Because of this, anyone is prone to getting a yeast infection.
The most common and most well known yeast infections are vaginal. However, men can get yeast infection on their genitals too. There are also infections that occur in the mouth and perhaps the worst of all is the type that infects one's intestines.
Symptoms vary slightly from one kind of infection to the next. Vaginal infections will show signs of itching, odor, burning, and redness in the area of the vagina. Male genital infection symptoms are near identical. Oral infections show up as white patches in the mouth or on the tongue and may cause discomfort or burning.
Intestinal yeast infection, and it's treatments are quite different from vaginal yeast infections. The common vaginal yeast infection is pretty easy to treat. One thing many people fail to realize is that intestinal infections need to be treated as soon as possible.
If you have an intestinal infection and you continue to let the overgrowth of yeast live in your body you can start to feel a number health issues such as allergies, trouble concentrating, memory loss, vaginal yeast infections, acne, bloating, gas, digestion problems, and possibly many more. Many times people will go to the doctor for these symptoms and it can be overlooked that an internal yeast infection is the root cause of the issue.
Unfortunately, treatment of some symptoms can further worsen the problem. For example, it is very common for people to take anti-acids to relieve the gas, bloating, and indigestion. While it may make you feel better initially, what you are doing is neutralizing the acids in your stomach which your body needs to effectively digest food. This not only keeps your body from taking in proper nourishment but improperly digested food is an optimal breeding ground for fungus.
The best thing you can do with any yeast infection is address the problem as soon as it's recognized. It is best that you know what you are up against and understand the proper way to treat a yeast infection at it's root. The most well known are the readily available over the counter anti-fungal products that you can find in almost all supermarkets and drug stores. There are also prescription products that are often prescribed by doctors to clear up yeast infection. Another option exists in the use of home remedies, while not everyone is as familiar with them they have been around for ages and are known to produce excellent results.
