Your eyes are the windows to your soul; in that case it would be a good idea to make sure that your eyes look good. When applying makeup on to your face, focusing on your eyes is very important.
When people look at you, one of the first things they notice is your eyes. One of the most important areas of the face to apply makeup is your eyes. In fact, the eyes can be considered the focal point of your face for a makeup artist just as an object might be considered the focal point of a room in the mind of an interior designer!
While eye shadow is a common product used to "decorate" eyes, you don't want someone to notice the eye shadow when they look at your eyes! The idea is for the eye shadow to enhance your own eyes rather than take away from them by distracting someone who looks at you.
If you use light colored eye shadow shades, your eyes will stand out and appear larger, while darker color eye shadows can help define and give eyes dimension. One reason many women choose to wear makeup is to give the impression of larger eyes if they have small ones, or to reduce the size of their eyes if they are already quite large. To minimize the appearance of protruding or large eyes, you would want to stick to darker eye color shades, while lighter shades will help smaller eyes appear bigger.
Choosing Eye Shadow Shades
Many women try to select eye shadow that matches the shade of their eyes exactly, but it's always better to choose a color that will contrast slightly with the color of your eyes. Best results are achieved when you select a natural shade rather than unnatural, trendy colors.
Applying Eye Makeup
First, select three shades of eye shadow that compliment one another and contrast slightly with your eye color. Start with your lightest shade, and apply to your eye lids all the way up to your eyebrow line.
Use your medium shade, and apply it in a "V" shape. You do this by starting in the center of your eyelid along the eyelash and moving out to the corner, and back up along the top of your eyelid's crease.
At the corner of your eye, use your darkest shade and just accentuate the wedge of that "V".
With your fingertips or an applicator, lightly blend so that the colors go together seamlessly and accentuate your eyes.
This common method of applying eye shadow can be used with any eye shape or size. Once you've put on eye shadow, you can then use an eye liner to line your eyes, and finish with a coat or two of mascara.
Focusing on your eyes is important, you don't want to apply make up all over your face only to neglect your eyes which will adversely affect the overall look of your face. By following these simple tips you can easily make your eyes look better and suit the overall makeup on your face.
These are fairly simple tips and are no secret, however many women tend to over look these points while applying makeup. Your best bet would be to experiment a bit to find out what really works for you. So the next time you are getting ready to go out don't forget your eyes.
