Holidays to Menorca can be very exciting especially when you see some of the events that happen around the area. The trot races are something you must see in Menorca. It is similar to a horse race except the object is to keep the horse from galloping. This event has been in existence for over two hundred years. Betting is allowed and you can even win some good money if the horse and jockey you choose wins. It is fun to spend the day watching the different horses and seeing how hard it really is to keep a horse from galloping.
Spend a day at the Port de Mahon. The port over looks the harbor on the beautiful Mediterranean. There are boutiques, bars and restaurants to enjoy while watching out over the harbor. If you go in the afternoon, you can enjoy a dinner and spend some time watching the sun go down. It is a beautiful sight to see. The yachts are another intriguing part of the harbor. Some of the vessels are unbelievable. It is a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the sounds of the water. It is a beautiful area to spend time enjoying.
There are two places or monuments to see as well. The Monte Toro is the highest peak of Menorca. It is a covenant that has a beautiful look. The nuns will open the doors to visitors in May on the first Sunday. This is a place to see and inside you will be amazed. The Naveta des Tudons is a monument that is from the very early years. This place is the oldest building in Spain with a roof. The area around the monument was an ancient burial site. In the 50's there were over one hundred corpses excavated. It is an amazing monument to see.
Holidays to Menorca are not complete unless you see the Club Escola Menorquina. This is a horse show so to speak, but the performances are done Menorca style. The show is some spectacular to see. The performances are done on Sundays and Wednesdays and there is an admission fee, but it is well worth seeing. The skills that it takes to perform are amazing.
