Are you in the process of planning a Kauai, Hawaii vacation? If you are, you will first want to make your travel arrangements, such as reservations for a Kauai vacation rental, a car rental, and your airline reservations. Once you have done so, you will want to take the time to research popular Kauai attractions. For your convenience, you can continue reading on to do so. 1 – The Wailua River The Wailua River is a must visit attraction for tourists visiting the island because it is the only navigable river in Hawaii. The river is perfect for those looking for both adventure and relaxation. If an adventurous vacation is more your style, you can kayak or canoe down the river. If you would rather relax and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area, guided boat tours are also available. What is unique about the Wailua River, aside from the fact it is the only navigable river in Hawaii, is the other activities you can enjoy. Here, you will also find the Fern Grotto. This is a large lava rock that is covered with beautiful ferns. Also located nearby is Paradise Gardens. 2 – Kokee State Park The Kokee State Park is located on the western side of Kauai. The most enjoyed activity at this park is that of hiking. You can hike on your own, but guided hiking tours are also available. When on a hike, be sure to have your camera handy, as the beauty of the land will amaze you. If you decide to stop at the Kokee State Park, you will want to visit the Kokee Museum. It is there where you can learn about the history of Kauai. Kauai stone artifacts are on display, as well as shells and unique wood samples. There are also firsthand accounts, through written exhibits and telling photographs. 3 - The Waimea Canyon The Waimea Canyon, located on the western side of Kauai, is the largest canyon in all of the Pacific. The canyon was formed due to the overflow of the Waimea River. Volcanic eruptions in the area in the past have also played a significant role in the beauty of the canyon. If you enjoy sightseeing, the Waimea Canyon is the perfect attraction for you. The area can be explored by car, foot, and helicopter. Those traveling by car will want to take the route of Canyon Drive, as there are numerous lookout points located along the way. There are also numerous hiking trails that can take you down into the canyon. While each of these trails vary, they are best designed for moderate to experienced hikers. The Waimea Canyon is protected by the Kokee State Park, which, as highlighted above, is another must visit attraction. 4 – The Napali Coast The Napali is located on the northern side of Kauai and it is one of the highest rated attractions in the area. One of those reasons being all of the ways you can see it. If you are looking for a fun, adventurous challenge, a hike down the Kalalau Trail is a must do activity for you. As previously stated, this trail can be challenging for some, as it is eleven miles and the land can be rough. It is, however, more than worth the hike. If you have booked a stay at a Kauai vacation rental already, be sure to get started early, as this attraction can keep you occupied for the whole day. For a shorter and more relaxing way to examine the beauty of the Napali Coast, helicopter and boat tours are available. Boating is ideal for those who don't enjoy hiking and for families vacationing with small children. As for a helicopter tour of the area, it is the perfect activity for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway. The four above mentioned Kauai attractions are just a few of the many that you can enjoy; however, these attractions come highly rated and recommended by tourists, just like you. If, by chance, you have yet to make your Kauai vacation rental reservations, visit HawaiianBeachRentals.com. They list a large selection of private rentals, including homes, condos, villas, cottages, and apartment rentals.
