First of all, congratulations on your decision to propose to the love of your life. This is a very exciting time for you and will soon be for your girlfriend. She may or may not know that you are thinking about marriage, but the key to the proposal is to keep it a surprise. If you find yourself wondering how to approach this memorable moment, here are three ways to make it an original proposal that you will one day be telling your children and grandchildren about.
Sweet. Have you ever heard the old saying, "sweets for the sweet?" If your girlfriend loves chocolate, then she will love receiving a box of it from you. But what she won't know is that there is something much sweeter than chocolate awaiting her. In a typical box of candy, each individual piece sits down in a thin paper cup. Remove the chocolate from the exact center of the box and place the engagement ring inside of the empty cup. When she opens the box, the ring will be center stage and she will fall in love with you all over again.
Creative. If you like the idea of presenting an engagement ring in a ring box and seeing her face as she slowly opens it, you are truly a romantic at heart. You can get very creative with this approach by purchasing a special occasion card that allows you to record your voice proposal. Hand her the card and gift-wrapped ring box, but ask her to open the card first. When she listens to the card, she will know what's inside the box and the excitement will be even greater as she unwraps the paper and opens the box to find the beautiful engagement ring that you have chosen for her.
Traditional. The Christmas holiday may have just passed, but it won't be long before it soon rolls around again and it's never to early to start planning for the year ahead. If you are going to propose on Christmas, you can surprise your sweetheart with a one-of-a-kind tree ornament. Tie a ribbon to the engagement ring and dangle it from a tree branch as though it were any other ornament. When she comes into the room and sees the light playing off of the diamond, you will be ready to propose to a very surprised and happy woman.
