How You Can Build Trust in Your Relationship

Many individuals go through trust issues both in the beginning and throughout their relationships. Much of the distrust comes from a fear of being hurt and sometimes distrust comes from bad past relationships. Either way if you want your relationship to work you have to start working on your trust issues and eventually get past them. Trusting someone with your heart isn't always easy but when you can finally relax with the person that you are with the feeling will be like nothing else ever experienced before. Just a few simple changes in the way that you communicate with your mate can make all of the difference in the world. One way to change the way you and your mate communicate is to not lie about how your feeling. When one mate lies to the other about their feelings it will eventually become impossible to tell how the other is feeling at any given time. If you seem sad but say that you're happy how is your mate ever going to determine what sad really looks like? You're in a relationship because you want to have that someone there to discuss your feelings with, to have someone to talk to when you're feeling down. You should by all means take advantage of the situation and share your feelings with your mate. In the end you will both be happy that you did. You don't want to keep secrets from your mate either, even if you feel that the truth may hurt them. Secrets have a way at eating away at you and can make you extremely miserable. Furthermore, when your mate finds out that you have been keeping a secret trust issues will escalate even further and it will be even harder to gain trust in the end. After all, you expect not to have your mate keep secrets from you so you should afford them the same courtesy. Be honest about what you need and expect from your partner and don't leave them guessing all of the time. When you know what each other want and know that you're willing to provide it then you can trust each other to do so. You can't always expect your partner to know exactly what you want and it isn't fair to assume that they will. Being honest about needs and actually providing them is a great way to build trust in a relationship. Finally, be willing to say no to your partner and accept the fact that they may say no to you to. You are still individual people with individual lives and you can't be expected to always be available for each others every whim. Although you want to try to provide all the support you can and do what you can for your partner you cannot neglect yourself in the process because when you do you begin to lose trust that your partner is concerned with your own needs and in the end that is what you really want out of your relationship.
