Millions of men every year want to give their girlfriends diamond engagement rings. That hasn't changed, the problem is the economy. Diamond rings can get pretty spendy. Just take a trip to the mall and check out some of the stores there if you don't believe it. If you're planning on getting your ring at one of the mall Jewelry stores, you could be in for a maxed out credit card. That goes double for those of you whose girlfriends have a taste for the finer things in life. There are places where you can get cheap diamond rings. Do the less expensive diamonds compare to rings found at the jewelers in the mall?
If you want to get a really great deal on a ring, no matter how much you plan on spending, you have to know what to shop for and how to shop. The mall stores are battling some long odds in the race to provide cheap rings. They have many large expenses that their competitors don't have. High overhead is one of their largest problems. They are most likely part of a large corporation that has plenty of administrative and marketing cost, and they pass that along to their stores. To make matters even worse for them they are paying rent some of the most expensive retail real estate available. You know who pays those high corporate overhead and rental costs don't you? That's right; you do.
One great strategy to get a cheap ring is to not shop at the mall jewelery stores. Don't worry though, you can find much better bargains either online, or at some of the smaller, independent jewelery stores. On many occasions, you'll get fantastic, personal service that you just can't get at some of the majors.
If you are a shrewd negotiator, you can easily receive a far better bargain at a local independent, or mom and pop than you would be at a large corporate stores. Just because they're small doesn't mean you can't find what you want, either. On the contrary, some of the so called "smaller" stores are pretty good sized and have very broad selections.
If you want to avoid the hassle of venturing out in traffic, or you live in an area with few good choices, you can do very well with some of the online jewelers. Many have great reputations, and excellent service. Because they have minimal compared to a traditional "bricks and mortar" store, they can keep their prices low, so you can get a your girl a very nice engagement ring, but pay for a cheap one. No only will you typically pay a much lower price, most of the better online vendors have huge selections and some have things you'll not typically find at local jewelers, such as natural pink diamond rings.
Another great way to find a cheap diamond ring is to shop for one at just under the carat break. What's a carat break? It is simple, really. If you buy a .96 carat diamond, you'll get a healthy Cheap over buying a full carat stone. It's a great deal for you because 99% of the folks you'll meet will never be able to tell the difference in size between a 1 carat diamond and a .95 carat one. The same goes for a 2 carat diamond. Buy one at 1.95 or 1.97 carats. It will still be a huge, beautiful piece of carbon, but you'll save a bundle on it.
Those are two really great ways to get Cheap diamond rings, but there are many more powerful, and easy to implement (no flying to South Africa or anything like that) strategies that can help you save money on diamonds. You'll be able to get your girlfriend the diamond she wants, but not have to sell your car to do it.
