For those who are enthralled by concepts like virtual reality, or love playing computer games or simply enjoy all kinds of imaginative challenges, then the place to go when visiting Orlando is DisneyQuest. Located in the Downtown Disney section of Disney World, DisneyQuest is billed as an "indoor interactive theme park with five floors of cutting edge technology."
Let's take a look at what you can experience at DisneyQuest. First off, if you would like to design the scariest roller coaster in the world and then ride in it you should make it a point to stop off at the CyberSpace Mountain. Here you can use a computer to design your custom roller coaster. You will be assisted by Bill Nye, who is known as the "Science Guy." When you are finished with your design you can enter a simulator and ride in your roller coaster (with full 360 degree motion).
Did you ever wonder what it would be like to live in the age of dinosaurs? Well, you can find out in the Virtual Jungle Cruise, where you will ride down a prehistoric river and do your best to avoid obstacles and stay in the rapids without getting splashed.
For those who would like to try their hand at animation and the creation of cartoon characters the place to spend some time is the Animation Academy. A skilled instructor will guide you through the process of creating a Disney character. You will feel quite proud when you view your creation at the end of the session.
A science fiction themed adventure awaits those who visit the Buzz Lightyear's Astroblaster. You will be piloting bumper car of the future and fighting off attacks from other cars by scooping up asteroids and hurling them at your enemies. This is the asteroid-blasting game to top all others in the genre. You have to be 51 inches or taller to go on this ride.
The romantic world of the Pirates of the Caribbean is recreated in the Battle for Buccaneer Gold ride. You will have to steer your virtual pirate ship and fire cannons at marauders while searching for gold. The height restriction on this ride is only 35 inches.
Equally romantic and exciting is the Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride. Here you will be flying through the narrow streets of Agrabah trying to find "the magic lamp" and save the life of the good old Genie.
More flying awaits you at the Ride the Comix attraction. You can battle super-villains as you fly through a virtual comic book world.
These are some of the attractions at DisneyQuest. The prices are as follows: 1-day DisneyQuest, Adult ages 10 and up $40.00 plus tax and for children: 1-day DisneyQuest Child ages 3 to 9, $34.00 plus tax. The opening hours are currently the following: Sunday- Thursday: 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday - Saturday: 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
