Well, it's that item of year again. Time to begin thinking of what to get for Christmas or Hanukkah. Perhaps this year you've decided to get something really big. Something for the whole family. Something that everyone will enjoy and that everyone can use.
You have lots of options. You could go huge and put in a pool. But, unless you're living in South Florida, you won't be able to swim in it for months. It will be there, waiting, ready for when it's warm enough to splash into.
You could go with wheels and get a golf cart or an ATV. You could even get mopeds. However, unless all of your children are of driving age (or at least look it), these may not be options for you.
You could plan some kind of special trip as a family gift. Skiing or snowboarding are great activities that everyone can do, and for those who can't or don't want to, there's always the ski lodge. A trip to a tropical locale is a good way to get away from the cold weather during the holidays. You could cruise the Caribbean, with snow and ice only mere memories.
If staying at home is more your style, you could opt for any number of items to entertain your family during the cold months of winter. A new game system might be just the thing. Games these days are so interactive, you don't need to forsake exercise; you can get it while participating in your new gaming system!
Depending on the game, most can be played with at least two players, if not four. This can help get the whole family (or most of it, if you have more than two kids!) playing together.
You could also upgrade your home theater. Putting in a new plasma HDTV with surround sound could be just the thing for your movie-loving family. Enjoy all the latest films together, with bowls of buttery popcorn, while the world turns white outside.
There is also the whole world of games tables. There are many different options to choose from in this category. From pool tables to foosball to ping pong to air hockey tables, you have lots of options.
Pool is a classic game, which everyone can learn, but may be difficult for the smaller set. Foosball is fun, and can be played by two or more people. Ping pong is great, but you do need lots of space, not only for the table but for your swing!
Air hockey tables are a popular choice for many families this year. They come in a variety of sizes (from 4-foot tabletop models to 8-foot regulation size tables) and prices. While they can typically only be played by two people at once, creative rotation of players in and out of the game can be achieved.
No matter what type of gift you decide on for your family this year, be sure to consider all your options. I'm sure you'll find something everyone will love.
