Recently I have been looking into the biomechanics of golf swing. I was not keen on looking at it to start with as just the name made me think that it would be very complicated and that I would not be able to understand it. I kept seeing it mentioned and just ignoring everything to do with it. However, I was beginning to feel that there must be something to it, if it is mentioned so much and I really ought to take a look and at least just see whether it is something that I could understand and not just assume that it would be difficult. I started by asking a few people about it but no one that I played with had ever looked into biomechanics of swing before. I then looked on the Internet. There was a lot of information about it, some articles referring to it without explaining what it was really and then other ones with a lot of good detail and interesting information. As I read more I began to realize that some people make it sound very complicated and others do not, it all d epends on who you choose to read and your understanding of the way that they explain things. I found it very interesting that some people will video tape their swing action and then carefully analyze each body movement. This is a way to really use the biomechanics of golf swing in order to find out how your body is moving and why you are not hitting the ball as well as you want to. It can give you a chance to see yourself moving, which is not possible when you are playing and you can look at how each individual part of your body moves during each part of the swing action. It is really interesting to compare it to the swing action of a professional player as you can begin to work out what it is about your action that is making you not play very well. This process can be quite technical but if you take it step by step then it should be fairly simple although it may take some time. Especially as once you have looked at the problems with the swing, you then need to work out what to do in order to improve. It is not as simple as saying that you should move slightly differently or lift higher etc. You firstly have to be aware that you need to break your swing habit, which may be one that you have been using for a long time. You may also need to strengthen your muscles as you may not be physically capable of making particular movements or you may find that it becomes tiring and you do not do it accurately as the game goes on. So if you are put off by looking at biomechanics of golf swing because you think it may be complicated, then push aside that concern and have a go. It will be worth it if you can make considerable improvements in your game.
