Get In The Swing With A Golf Fitness Program

Some golfers find that they really ache after a game; this is because the golf swing puts a lot of strain on your back and unless you are really fit the aching will get worse rather than better. If you want to improve your swing, cut back on the aches and stay in the game then you really need a golf fitness program. Golf may look like a laid back game but if you have played it for any length of time you soon realize that it is actually quite strenuous – and strenuous activities take a huge toll on someone who is not fit to start with. Golfing swings and postures are not natural, when you play golf you are putting a strain on your back and on other areas of your body; unless you want to risk serious injury you should think seriously about a fitness program. A golf fitness program needn't be too hard or take up too much of your time – a well balanced diet and a couple of hours regular exercise a week is usually sufficient for most people. A program as simple as the one just outlined will soon begin to develop and strengthen your muscles, which in turn will have a positive effect on your game. Whatever program you eventually settle on, regularity is a key factor. If you want to lessen the risk of injury when you are playing golf then you need to be strengthening all the muscles that you use when you take a swing. When you get started on golf fitness you will soon notice that not only has your swing improved, but your drive has also improved – this is because the exercises improve your posture, coordination and balance. Muscles that are exercised regularly soon develop greater flexibility, and if you want to improve your golfing scores then it is essential that you are as flexible as possible. Regular exercise will do this, something as simple as lifting light weights and regularly bending your knees during a work out will increase both your strength and flexibility, which could improve your game dramatically. You need a lot of flexibility and strength if you are going to make a good, full swing. Balance is especially important where golfing is concerned, having the right balance is essential to a good swing – if your balance is off then this can have a bad effect on the accuracy of your swing and the power behind the ball. As a golfer your balance needs to be centered if you want a powerful and accurate swing. If you really want to improve your game then golf fitness should be an integral part of your life. Even if you are on a very tight budget a one off session with a golf trainer would be extremely useful. Most professionals will tell you that besides your regular exercise program there are specific areas that you should concentrate on. Improving your swing for example has to be done in stages as you use so many different muscles for this. We have already covered flexibility and balance and you should also try to include some stretching exercises into your daily life – a good swing involves stretching your body at an awkward angle and this can only be safely achieved when you concentrate on golf fitness.
