Do you have dogs that have a knack of running around your neighborhood? Though they find their way back eventually, the possibility of them causing damage to other people's property is very likely. What's worse is if they do end up getting lost or be involved in an accident. Such incidents above can be prevented if you have an electric pet fence that helps keep your dog at bay.
No Walls Required
The combination of a transmitter and receiver removes the need of a physical wall to be set up just to contain your pet. As along as the system is turned on, you can be sure that your pet will not attempt antics commonly used for fences. This includes digging under or jumping over wooden fences. For some home owners, having to build a fence may not mix with the current design of the house. Others simply see that building a fence is too daunting and would require time and money. The electric pet fence would be ideal to these owners and their pets.
Radio Technology
The transmitter included in the system broadcasts a radio signal around your house, which creates a play area that your dog can roam around freely. Depending on the range set, the boundary is the point where the signal is very weak or undetectable. Boundary flags will be planted at this point to warn your pet that he is close.
Your pet will be wearing a collar that has a receiver in it. The receiver detects the signals coming from the transmitter. If the dog misses a boundary flag, the receiver will detect a loss of signal and will sound an alarm. If the dog is unable to return to the play area where the signal is strong, the receiver will set a mild static correction.
Guaranteed Safe
The static given to the dog is a concern to potential customers, but it is completely safe and will not harm the dog. The receiver's task is to get your pet's attention and not to act as punishment. Furthermore, the receivers can be adjusted to reduce the discomfort that might be felt by the dog. It is also possible to remove the static altogether and work with the alarm sound only.
Consider other forms of containment such as the leash. Dogs end up getting bruises on the neck and may even get choked if the rope gets entangled. Putting your dogs in a pen will restrict movement too much, and their health may be affected due to sanitation issues. The mild static correction, on the other hand, will not constantly be given to the dogs. If they are still unable to get back to the play area, the static correction will stop.

From the get-go, an electric pet fence has been more than just a way to prevent your pet from wandering. It is a system to help you train your dogs to stay within a perimeter you have set for them. This is why the presence of flags and warning sounds are important, so the dogs still have time to turn back.
