You have adopted a puppy and it belongs to a breed that is considered to be quite intelligent. Should you, the pet owner, assume that the pet animal will instinctively follow your commands? Puppies are not born with the knowledge about what to do when its master says "sit." Puppies and dogs need to undergo a phase of learning.
