Ninety percent of what you eat enters your body via your mouth. So taking good care of your mouth is important, as it insures that the food you eat doses not carry germs to inside your body. Oral care is not difficult, all it takes is some determination and discipline. And considering the fact that it enhances your confidence, when you know that your mouth is not smelling and you have a snow white smile that people love. Brushing your teeth is one way to maintain oral hygiene, however many people tend to skip brushing their teeth and don't always brush their teeth after every meal. Nothing says "Hello!" like a bright, beautiful smile- which is why it's important that you pay careful attention to your oral hygiene. Neglecting oral care can lead to all kinds of problems that are not only unsightly, they're downright unhealthy. Giving your mouth the attention it needs isn't that hard, and the benefits are incredible. So take a bite out of these tips, and keep your smile fresh. Your dentist isn't the enemy. He isn't telling you to brush and floss twice a day just because he's mean and wants to take a few more minutes out of your already-busy day. Brushing and flossing is essential to your mouth's health. It helps combat the buildup of plaque, which breaks down the hard enamel that protects your teeth, causing tooth decay that can eventually lead to cavities. And not only do cavities hurt, but they'll cost you a pretty penny to get filled. So just follow his advice- twice a day isn't that bad. Many people like to use a strong mouthwash as a supplement to brushing and flossing, and some people even think that such a mouthwash can replace brushing and flossing completely. But not only can these mouthwashes not fulfill the role of brushing and flossing, since they can't remove plaque from the teeth, most of them contain ingredients that kill bacteria. Unfortunately, our mouths contain a lot of good, beneficial bacteria that help keep us healthy, and when you use these mouthwashes, they kill the good along with the bad. So if you're just looking for fresher breath, go ahead and use a strong mouthwash-but if you're trying to improve your mouth's health, keep away. Your diet has a lot to do with your oral health. We don't like to admit it, but sweets and sodas just aren't good for your teeth. Eating fewer of both is better for your mouth, and better for your health overall. If you try to cut back, and find you can't, at least get in the habit of brushing your teeth afterwards. The sugar can do less damage if you don't let it hang around. If you have an oral condition you can explain, or you have sensitive gums it would be a good idea to consult your doctor. Don't over brush or use a lot of pressure while brushing your teeth. This will ensure that you don't stress or hurt your gums with the bristles of your brush. Ultimately, though, there's only so much you can do without seeking the help of a professional. Getting a your teeth cleaned by an oral hygienist twice a year helps your dentist keep on top of your mouth's situation. The more regularly you go to the dentist, the earlier you'll be able to catch any problems, and the earlier you catch them, the smaller they are. So visit regularly for a happier, healthier smile.
