When you get a skin problem, how do you deal with it? Do you ignore it, hoping it will go away? Do you try various home remedies? Or, do you immediately seek medical attention? Whichever method you choose, no doubt you hope that the skin problem will go away as soon as possible.
In your current situation, you're hoping for a way to cure spider veins. You really miss the days when the only thing you worried about was whether you had to shave them on not. You've seen various ointments at the grocery store, and you figure that you might as well try one as a possible way to cure spider veins.
You buy an ointment that looks the most promising (well, it had the best-looking box anyway) and put it on once a night for six whole weeks. Have there been any changes? No, except that you see a vein that looks suspiciously like a new spider vein. How wonderful.

Injections? Oh no! You have never been a big fan of needles, and thought that you'd be prescribed some sort of ointment that actually works. Heck, you'd even take a pill if you absolutely had to. However, the cure for this problem doesn't work like that.
Your dermatologist has told you that since your spider veins are still relatively small, there is a chance that the injections will be all that you need to get rid of those veins. The procedure itself will be a straightforward one, with minimal numbing applied to the area, and medicine injected into the vein to make it collapse. When the day of the procedure comes, you steel yourself against the initial pinch that the needle makes, and hope for the best.
Well, several injections, and one hour later, you stare down at your legs, and notice that not only are they now swollen, but the veins look darker than they did before. Your dermatologist explains that that's a normal outcome, and that the veins should grow lighter over time. You will, however, have to make an additional few appointments, as this procedure is part of a series in order to provide maximum results.
Even more injections, and lots of swelling and purple veins later, you've seen some lightening of those veins, but not enough to make you want to go out and wear a short skirt in the near future. So, your dermatologist says that laser treatments are in order. You cringe at the thought of having to go through yet another procedure, but you still have a dream, and in this dream your legs are clear again. Hopefully this time, all of the efforts of these procedure will pay off, and your dream will become a reality.
