You've been fat for as long as you can remember. It's just who you are. Your family is fat, and you figure that you're fat because of genetics, not diet. Well, it doesn't help that you eat at least three cheeseburgers everyday, but that's beside the point.

You had always thought that you would have to suffer with your man boobs and wear extra, extra, infinitely extra, large shirts for the rest of your life. Also, you're going to have to quit smoking. There's no way that any reputable surgeon would perform this procedure on you if you're a smoker. So, say goodbye to your cigarettes, since they would've ended up killing you anyway.
Another thing you're going to have to work on is your modesty issue. If you want a sex life at some point, you're going to have to undress, and you'll also have to undress at your consultation. So, you might as well start getting used to undressing in public at the men's locker room. Ignore any nasty comments, people who make fun of others are losers anyway.
Basically, it all comes down to seeing what you can achieve on your own beforehand, and then seeing if you'll need the surgery afterward, because you might not, thereby saving yourself some money. Think of yourself as Rocky in training, because you can reach your goals with persistence!
