Rosacea is a common skin disorder that covers a wide range of symptoms. Usually these symptoms include red, irritated skin, visible blood vessels, bumps, and irritation to the eyes as well. Modern medicine has developed a number of successful treatments and there are ways to prevent rosacea flair ups which can help to avoid unsightly redness and irritation. For many people, men and women alike, mild rosacea can develop in middle age and can worsen over time, or remain relatively the same. For each patient, the way that rosecea affects the skin varies and must be treated and examined by a dermatologist who can help you to decide which skin care treatments may be best for your particular symptoms. Mild rosacea may come and go, worsening on some days for various reasons, yet not on others. Fortunately, for those with a mild case of rosacea, the symptoms are not as intense, yet treatment may still be something you are interested in. Certain activities and external factors can contribute to mild rosacea, such as sunlight, wind, irritating substances found in facial and body products, exercise, flushing of the face, and hot or spicy foods, beverages, alcohol, and scrubbing the face. Some forms affect the eyes, causing sties and redness. Rosacea has been linked to various causes, including bacterial formations, sun damage to the skin, chemical exposures, abnormal oil glands and even neurovascular disease. What may be causing your case of mild rosacea can be related to one of these. It is important to remember though that treating mild rosacea may be simpler since symptoms are less severe. One method of treatment obviously involves prevention in this case. It would be wise to become familiar with what seems to trigger your symptoms and to avoid that thing. If it is something such as blood flushing the cheeks which is difficult to control, there are ways to help treat the body's response system with certain therapies and healing treatments which can alter the way you handle stressful situations. Wearing sunscreen if the sun seems to be the cause is a great idea as well. Keep an eye on the body and how it responds to various external factors to get an idea of what is causing your symptoms. A trained dermatologist can diagnose your symptoms and inform you if rosacea is the cause of what you are noticing. If so, various treatment options are available for mile rosacea. Some include topical applications that may work for you include metronidazole, sodium sulfacetamide or sulfur, and azelaic acid. Also, benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin, clindamycin, tacrolimus, and tretinoin are all options. Trying one and seeing how it affects your symptoms may be a great way to see what treatment options work best for you. It is always a great idea to ask plenty of questions so that your dermatologist can more effectively serve you and make sure that your skin is at its healthiest and most beautiful. Mild rosacea may be challenging but there are options available to help lessen symptoms or remove them entirely.
