Writing Great Wedding Thank You Notes

It was a wonderful fairytale wedding and all your family, your friends, the wedding guests made it a day you will remember with joy for the rest of your life. Then came the dream-like honeymoon. Now you're back and still on Cloud Nine but maybe you need to get back down to earth for a few moments and consider one of the first things you should do. Saying Thank You and saying it like you really meant it. All it takes is a heartfelt thank you card. Now you could do this two ways. You could get those pre-printed ones (either from the store or you could order them off the Internet) or you could do your own. Either way, add the personalized touch by handwriting your thank yous.

The whole thing would be what you could afford. If you can order a set of cards, great. You could go to a store and pick them up as well. Or just get little pre-cut cards on which you can write. The thing is to remember that the thank you cards are as important as your wedding invitations. And it is your chance to say Thank You to all the people who matter in your life - the people you thought were important enough to invite to your wedding anyway.

What do you say? Thank You of course is a great way to start. Thank them for their gift, or their presence or their good wishes. Thank them for thinking about you even if they couldn't make it. In this case you could follow it up with how sorry you are they couldn't be there and how much you missed them. If they were there, you could be sentimental – after all it's your wedding day you are talking about. Do also remember to handwrite every one of them. This is one occasion in your life where you need to make it as personalized as possible. If you want to thank a person for a gift, mention the gift and how glad you are to get it and how you are going to remember them when you use it. (It helps if you have already made a list of who gave you what!)

Don't delay sending them out. They should ideally be sent within three weeks after the wedding. It would be a nice gesture to include a picture of both of you with the thank you card. Or, it could be one of your honeymoon pictures. This would be a thoughtful touch appreciated by all and would be especially welcome if you were sending it to those who weren't there. Of course you can always stick a pretty stamp on the envelope too. If you can find a thank you stamp, that would really be a great finishing touch!
