There are various ways to get out there for the sake of the business. One of the necessary evils is trade shows. Anyone that has ever been or done one knows how it seems to look like an endless sea of merchants that are all trying to sell the same thing. In order to stand out from the rest of them, a banner stand display can be used to get people's attention.
Being lost in the crowd is a common problem during these massive shows. If the display that is being used is not significantly different or has something that is truly eye catching, people will walk right by without making a single inquiry. At times, it seems as the only way to get them to listen is to stand in the middle of the aisle and do your best pitchman impersonation.

When the banner and backdrop match, the banner can get lost in the shuffle, especially from a distance. If someone is on the other side of the room and the display and curtains are both blue, all they are going to see is the blue and it is unlikely that the banner will ever be noticed.
Another consideration is the availability of materials for people to take with them. If the banner stand display has caught their eye, but they don't have the time to hang out and talk, having a display with a literature pocket will at least allow them to take your flyer with them. They are also useful when the agent is tied up talking to someone and the next person cannot wait.
Doing trade shows can be a bit of a chore, especially when nobody is seeking out your product. The only way to get traffic is to get noticed.
