Cowboy decor is a favorite among the boys and girls who love the wild west. If your child loves everything cowboy related, there are many great ways you can transform their room into a grand western adventure. For instance, the following are some ideas on how you can use different cowboy decor to create the western room your child will love.

Bedding: Usually when it comes to decorating your kid's room around a theme, the best way to help you get ideas is to start by selecting the bedding. The best place to look for cowboy decor bedding is online. The reason is because you will likely find a variety of bed sets to choose from with different designs such as horses, cactus, cowboys, hats, lassos, lone star and boots.

If it is at all possible, when looking for bedding, try to find either 3-piece bed sets (matching comforter/duvet/quilt, bedskirt and pillow sham(s)) or a complete set (matching comforter/duvet/quilt, bedskirt and pillow sham(s), plus a full set of sheets – top sheet, fitted sheet, pillow case (s)). Once your child chooses the bedding they like best, you can then begin building their room around its color and theme by adding other cowboy decor accessories.

Walls: The walls of a cowboy decor themed room can either be painted or wallpapered. If you would like to keep decorating the walls simple, choose to paint the walls a single, solid rustic shade of brown, orange or a burnt yellow. If you would like to add a little more creativity, you could purchase a few stencils at your local craft shop and add some cowboy designs on the walls.

If you would like to wallpaper the walls, or add a wallpaper border to a painted room, you will find that www.decoratetoday.com has a few excellent cowboy decor designs to choose from. Simply visit the site, click on their "wallpaper and fabric" section and search for the keyword "cowboy". If you select a wall border, the best place on the wall for it is generally the middle, top or ¾ from the top of the room.

Floors: If it is at all possible, the best type of flooring for a room that is sporting cowboy decor is hardwood flooring. If you are unable to use hardwood, you can always choose a shaggy carpet, or a soft plain rug that is beige, off white or brown.

Furniture: The best cowboy decor furniture is brown wooden furniture that looks worn. You can achieve this look by sanding the furniture and leaving it with an unfinished look. Great furniture items for kids' rooms include bookshelves, dresser/chest of drawers, desk, and a trundle or loft bed.

Room accessories: Depending on the age of your child, the size of the room, and how much you can spend, there are different cowboy decor accessories you can add to give their room that extra special touch, and include:

* Window treatments - possible ones that match the bedding.

* Wall art - great places to look for cowboy posters or art prints is at www.allposters.com and www.art.com.

* Horse saddle

* Plush toys

* Cowboy hat

* Throw pillow and/or blanket

* Cowboy boots

* Figurines

* Area rugs

* Lamps or lamp shade

* Lasso

* Wooden toy box bench

* Rocking horse

* Clock

Creating a room with a cowboy decor theme can be a lot of fun. Thus, make sure you take the time to discover your options, and try not to limit your imagination.
