There are a few companies that have started offering free web hosting but according to your use there will be benefits and drawbacks. If you plan to make a professional website for your company than this is not one of the options you should consider because along with your website, there will generally be advertisements while there is also another way these people have started advertising which is through links. When you click on a specific link on a website it will take you to another page which will mention something like "advertisement page" so the person who accessed your website initially could end up straying away from it because of this or the look that person will receive will be very different from what you might want them have. Secondly, as you will not be paying anything and if there are problems, there is not really anything specific you will be able to do or complain even if your website is offline and not working.
If you are planning to make just a personal website with no commercial use than you can go ahead and try something like this out but usually along with the ads, many free services such as these are veiled in another form as they might want to charge you something for a domain name for example. A free web hosting is good enough for trial or on an unprofessional level but once you step into the professional world and want people to have a specific opinion about you while you represent a specific image, it is not recommended to go to such a place to get your website hosted. If you want totally free there are also place you can go like Google and Yahoo where you can make you own website totally free of cost and also host it so eventually, it all depends upon you on how you want to look to the people who will come to you eventually.
Always take a little knowledge with you about things and if you are going to get into web hosting by any means, than this is also a good way to start off in which you would be able to lean few things along the way. There are no professional businesses which would be enrolled with such free services as there is no security of when your website could go down or have problems.
This is something on which one really cannot speculate due to the diverse intentions of people but to sum it up in a but shell, if you are a student and want to make your website for your friends than this is one of the best options for but lets say for example, you are starting or have a small business and are planning to host your website, do not even consider this option or come close to it, pay if you have too but get something which is offers you reliability and security along with a peace of mind.
