Is your website dynamic enough? What if it's too dynamic? Is there such a thing? In terms of search engine optimization, if your website is too dynamic, this could work against you because the search engines won't necessarily understand what it is that you do. Search engines look at a lot of basic elements of a website because they can. While certain robust features work great for the user experience, a lot of search engine spiders just pass over them. There are a lot of common mistakes that prevent really great websites from being found by the people they're designed for. Learning about SEO can definitely help you maximize your traffic and success potential! Images – Don't forget the alt text! If your website is a site that is is filled with images, this can be good for business because everyone knows that a picture is worth a thousand words. But, it's important that if your site has images on it that you make sure you use alt text in the html. The search engine spider isn't going to know what your image is a picture of so won't know if it's related to your site's subject matter unless you tell it what that picture is. Because not all search engines index images, you need to be sure that any search engine spider crawling your site can determine what that picture is related to. The alt text tag is also a good idea because if for some reason your visitor doesn't see the image, they can also see what should have been there. Be sure to use keywords that you're trying to rank for in your image alt text. URL / Title / Header Use relevant keywords in your URL, your titles, and the header of each page so that search engines can see what your site is. If you have several product pages, you'll probably have plenty of images and Google indexing images happens when the images have relevant keywords. Optimized SEO Content Website content is gold in terms of providing search engine value. The more website content you write, the more that Google has to work with in terms of knowing precisely what you do and that can result in your site getting the type of traffic that could turn into customers for you. Writing content on a regular basis is also important because the search engines start to recognize patterns that increase the frequency of their visits to your website. The more often they visit, the more chances you have of being seen as relevant enough to rank well for your desired target keywords and key phrases. A lot of website owners make a mistake of populating their website entirely before publishing and then just leaving it as a static website. The more often you update, the more often search engine spider programs will stop by so it is a good idea to update the site regularly. This is especially true when you have a dynamic site that has components which may be harder for search engines to read. There are so many things you can do to increase the amount of incoming website traffic. Search engine optimization isn't necessarily something you have to hire a pro to do for you. Learn all you can about various aspects of search engine marketing and you'll increase your traffic, your customer list, and your profits!
