The Night
Not too long ago I was visiting some friends I hadn't seen in a while. After a nice dinner they invited us out into the backyard to sit around the fire pit for a while. I immediately thought "Wait a minute, this is the city and this guy is planning to set up a campfire in his backyard. The local fire department will be here hosing us down before more than 2 sparks shoot skyward."
I somewhat reluctantly followed our hosts out into their backyard, mumbling something about heading out soon and an early rise in the morning. When our friends led us to where they would set the fire, I was struck by what a lovely backyard they had. Everything was landscaped nicely and pavers made a pathway from the house. Not what I was expecting at all. Then I saw the fire pit and wow!
The Fire Pit

As I watched my buddy lighting the fire I was struck by how easy it was and how, even though they'd used the fire pit the night before, it looked as good as new. In no time the flames were going, safely ensconced in a strong, trustworthy container. You could enjoy the fire and the warmth, without worrying about sparks and embers.
I loved the experience so much that I started asking my friend questions about fire pits. He had experienced one first at a friend's home, during a party. At the party there were kids around toasting marshmallows over the fire pit, someone had brought along a guitar and there was a sing along. It reminded him so much of his youth that the next day he started looking into buying one.
