Benefits of a Veggie Diet

Cancers and coronary heart diseases are the number one killers on the planet. In the past two decades, these diseases are diagnosed in younger population when in the early to mid 20th century they were rare and found on older members of the population. These diseases before were acquired based on genes and heredity. Now, some pattern of these diseases' appearance becomes obvious. For example, a woman in her late thirties suddenly is diagnosed with liver cancer when her recent ancestors and immediate family never have this type of cancer or any other cancer at all. Unhealthy lifestyle is blamed to become the primary reason of acquiring lethal disease. The rise in obesity among the younger ones, diabetes being diagnosed in kids and a relatively becoming short life span are some of the results of poor and unhealthy living. Unhealthy living is consists of eating bad foods in the wrong amounts. Excessive drinking, smoking and using drugs are also known culprits. No wonder that a lot of people are now beginning to be aware of the alarming health situation and are now looking for answers to a healthy lifestyle. One of the most popular is the Veggie Diet. This simply means that the diet is comprised either mainly vegetables or fruits or primarily vegetables and fruits with a very little portion of protein and carbohydrates source. There are a lot of benefits of a veggie diet that will change your perspective about your eating patterns and habits. Among the reasons are: 1. Vegetables are heart savers. Vegetables are proven to protect the heart because they contain a lot of antioxidants. Vegetables and fruits that are rich in fiber flush the bad toxins and fats from the body, eliminating the chance of fat build up in the arteries causing blockage and in turn heart attack or stroke. 2. Vegetables are the fountain of youth. Studies show that a diet of veggies make the life span of an individual longer by up to seven to ten years longer compared to non- veggie eaters. The reason is that vegetables maintain the overall health of the major organs and systems in the body like the heart, lungs, liver, intestines, etc. 3. Vegetables lower the risk of cancers. Experts say that red meat especially processed pork no matter how you cook them will feed the cancer cells. Therefore, the frequency of eating meat is directly proportional to the risk one of developing cancer. 4. Vegetables make you slimmer. Are you looking for the best diet solution? Eat vegetables! Vegetables, because they have lots of fiber, absorb more water in your body which in turn makes you feel full. 5. Vegetables are economical. In contrast with meat and meat- based food, vegetables are cheaper source of food providing you additional savings in your bank account. The shift from meat diet with few veggies to a veggie diet is not always easy. However, if you want to protect your body from deadly diseases and live longer, you should start now!
