When you want to lose the weight, you have to make sure that you're dedicated to it. Otherwise, you will end up going on a downward spiral and double up your previous weight. You can start by learning the do's and don'ts into dropping off the pounds: Do's 1. Consult your doctor first. This is one of the most overlooked steps to losing weight. Most would simply jump on to fad diets and strenuous activities without realizing that they already have pre-existing conditions. In the end, they're only worsening their health condition. Before you do anything, visit your doctor first and ask for his or her opinion about your plans. Who knows, he or she can even recommend you the best exercises and meal plan for your needs. 2. Exercise for at least 30 minutes. This is true if you really want to burn a good amount of calories. Now, so many think that they must accumulate such time at one time, burning out themselves with the routines. If you think you can't last longer than 10 minutes, then don't push it. It takes a while for the body to get used to some movements. What you can do is to break down 30 minutes all throughout the day. 3. Monitor your progress. Seriously, how would you know that you're really losing weight unless you're going to keep track of the physical and mental changes that you're going through? It's always advisable for someone who's trying to lose weight to maintain a journal so he or she can always check the activities he or she has done so far for his or her goals. It can be online or not. The most important thing is that it can help monitor progress. 4. Combine exercise with diet. You must not do one without the other. This is because it's utterly useless to be burning the same amount of calories every day. Make sure that with your exercises, you can also watch out what you eat. Don'ts 1. Starve yourself. Please skip the fad diets. They don't provide long-term benefits. One reason is because you are always starving yourself and you feel deprived of your favorite dishes. You will instantly lose your motivation, which would lead you back to your old lifestyle. These diets can also cause a lot of mess on your metabolism and your body systems. The key is to eat in moderation and eat the right foods. 2. Give excuses not to exercise. It takes at least 21 days to form a habit. If you're going to quit while you're still trying to build up routines for your exercises, expect yourself to not be exercising or dieting for such a long time. Make it a point to always squeeze at least 30 minutes for an activity. It doesn't have to be conventional exercises. You can play a sport, run around the neighborhood, or hop on a bike. With proper discipline and dedication, you can definitely make yourself healthy, strong, and sexy.
