They Really Are More Than Just Lawn Mowers

Everyone should now be aware that there are two main types of lawnmower that one can use for the purpose of normal yard work. These two types are cylinder and rotary. There are other types of mower, such as flails, but are used mostly for the heavier jobs.

Let us first have a brief look at the rotary version of the lawn mower. Whilst you would not normally associate them with the maintenance of fine turf, these machines do have their pros. For starters, they are very simple machines. What could be simpler than a large cutting blade, securely fastened to the crank of the motor, spinning around at a fast rate, and managing to clear everything in its path? There is no initial setup required, just put the gas in and give it a spin. These kinds of mowers are extremely diverse in their scope. If you have for example, a decent sized lawn area, then a rotary is what you should purchase. They also give you the option of raising and lowering the blade, to cut your lawn to the desired height.

On the other hand, if the rotary mower does not provide you with the type of lawn that you are looking for, you can then go with a cylinder lawn mower. You might ask yourself, what is the attraction of the cylinder mower? This is a simple answer, and that is that it gives a much better cut. Some golf courses use rotaries on the fairways now, but a greens keeper probably would not ever use one on the green or tee. This is due to the fact that cylinder mowers will cut the grass nice and neatly, and the rotary type mauls the grass.

So if you are a person who takes the utmost pride in your lawn, the cylinder lawn mowers will give you the best cut you can get. You do not have to go out and spend an enormous amount of money on one of these, but for around $1200-$1500, you can get yourself a lawnmower that will give you a great lawn cut each time, and it is well worth the price. Each time that you cut your lawn with this kind of lawn machine, your yard, if cultivated properly, can wind up looking like a golf course or baseball field. Taking pride in your work will never be as easy.
