Always have the center speaker within equal distance from positions of listening from right and left speakers.
Before shopping, set yourself with a realistic budget. The top of the line systems can be very costly so you should make sure you set a price which is reasonable for you.
Never buy the very fist sound system you find. Even though you pay want to make the purchase the same day, it's important to shop around. By comparing the options which are available in your budget and reading reviews from consumers and customers, you can find a system that can offer quality and last a long time as well.
After you have listened to the different systems in your budget, choose the system which suits your needs. Pick the system which has the best quality for your dollar. You will need to have your system installed correctly. Speaker placement should be right for the optimization of sound. If speakers are lined up, the surround system will not work well.
If you do not want to install yourself, you can have a professional install it for you. Either way, you will need to be sure to hide wires and ensure safety. The wires can be hid under carpet and in walls. Tripping on speaker wires can cause you to fall or rip the wires from the system. Exposed wires are not very attractive either. If you do not want wires at all, you always have the option of purchasing wireless speakers.
You don't have to spend astronomical amounts of money on your sound system. Your theater doesn't need to be huge. Your investment will be worth it in the end.
