Almost every person has suffered from the loss of a loved one due to illnesses, natural causes or accidents. Death due to prolonged illnesses or natural causes is devastating but gives you time to say goodbye to your beloved. On the other hand, unexpected death due to diseases or accidents is much harder to bear since it is all so sudden. Many people who have lost a loved one this way will naturally feel angry and depressed. Some would even be in denial for a long time. Bereavement is a part the natural process of letting go and moving on. Some go through this stage easily while other need a longer time before they feel that they are emotionally ready. In some cases, you may have accepted the death of a loved one but have difficulties establishing new relationships for fear of losing that person again. Some would say that you have not yet completed the bereavement stage if you refuse to move on and lead a normal life. If this fear of loss has taken control of your life, rendering you unable to make new friends, then you may have a more serious mental problem. You could end up alienating the other people in your life and also getting depressed. Before the depression becomes bad and add to your problems of dealing with the loss, you should make a conscious decision to seek professional health. You would be surprised that there are some cases when the prolonged sadness or depression is a result of a chemical imbalance in your brain. These imbalances can be corrected by taking medication prescribed by your doctor or psychiatrist. After correcting the imbalances, you will still have to undergo some counseling to help you with your bereavement. Your psychiatrist will help you manage your fears and other issues so you can complete the grieving process. Today, there is also hypnotherapy, which is known to be quite effective in treating anxiety and depression-related disorders. A hypnotist will try to manage your depression and sadness by altering particular behavior via hypnotism. Since the treatment lasts several sessions only, with each session taking as short as two hours, your depression can be treated quicker. In addition, there will be no prescription medication involved, which has been known to make patients drug-dependent. Hypnotherapy is also considered to be one of the most effective and safest way of treating phobias, addictions and other fears.

You can learn control bereavement, that sad or lonely state due to a loss or death. Hypnosis can help with bereavement in terms of coping with the loss of a loved one and the grieving process.
