Workers have recently discovered remains from a number of people still missing from the 9/11 attacks.
About eighty bones were discovered recently, sparking anger amongst the families whom lost relatives in the 9/11 attacks.
About eighty different bones belonging to a variety of people were uncovered near a man hole, which had not bean searched. More man hole searches are imminent in the next few days.
Families of about 1100 people, have not received any remains since the attack.
On Friday construction workers made the unusual discovery. This has prompted senior officials to order more searches of unsearched manholes, close to ground zero.
On Saturday, more human remains were discovered, which heightened the urgency for more searches.
Back in 2002 searches were cancelled after 20 000 pieces of human remains were found. Officials thought that they were no more.
The discovery comes just after the five year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
In February 2005, medical personnel had halted the DNA identification as they had run out of technology and no further identification was possible.
This left 4 out of 10 families without positive identification for their loved ones.
Will this new discovery bring the DNA identification process back into play?
The death count from the world trade centre attacks still stands at around 2750.
with only about 57% of all human remains identified.
The World trade centre remains have been freeze dried and sealed until further DNA identification can resume.
In February 2003 scientists identified two of the hijackers through DNA testing.
On September 2001, Four planes were hijacked in total. Two were flown into the world trade centres. One was flown into the pentagon in Washington and a forth crashed after passengers allegedly fought with the hijackers.
Massive settlement claims were subsequently paid out to participating families of diseased victims. The payouts ranged from half a million to several million dollars.
A small number of the families decided rather to sue the airlines rather than take the settlement.
These court cases are still in stages of infancy five years later and will probably drag on for at least another ten years.
Victims of the 9/11 attacks who elected not to take the settlement and instead fight the cases through the American courts are not guaranteed to win their cases at the end of the day and may end up with nothing.
