With so many free dating sites on the internet nowadays, you might think they must be the perfect answer to all your social life desires. There are some disadvantages to be wary of, so think about these before you join any dating site.
Lack of commitment
Because the free dating sites are so available, many people don't make the full commitment to one site. They will try one for a few days or weeks and if they don't see immediate results, they may move on to another site and sign up there--time after time. They may even assume that paying money to join a dating site will mean better results. A much better solution is to pick a quality free site with lots of profiles and good screening policies and stick with it. Make your profile as good as you can and be prepared to develop your dating relationships gradually.
Different goals
When you are choosing free dating sites, you must be aware that not everyone chose a dating site with the same goals in mind. Some members place their profiles on a dating site just for the purpose of making lots of new friends. They don't necessarily want to get into a dating relationship with someone they met online. In fact, some members of dating sites select friends from distant locations in order to expand their knowledge about people around the world. If your goal is to meet and marry, you may have to be more patient.
Delayed reaction
When you sign up for any of the free dating sites, you shouldn't be in too much of a hurry for responses. Not everyone sits at the computer waiting for a new arrival on the site to get acquainted with. Some people believe that since there is no cost for the free dating sites, it is not important to do a good job of writing the profile that will describe their interests, personalities and activities. When you are preparing your profile, make certain that you pay attention to such things as spelling, grammar. Don't try to be someone other than yourself, or you may not get responses from people that have the characteristics you are searching for. Try to let people know what is interesting about your life and your beliefs. There are others on the internet who will share those interests.
Dishonesty
Another major disadvantage to the free dating sites (and the paid sites as well) is that of dishonest people pretending to be older or prettier or richer or younger than they actually are in hopes of creating relationships. Maybe you are a 15 year old female pretending to be 21. Maybe you are a 56 year old male pretending to be 35. This is not a good way to build a lasting relationship or even a casual dating scene. Because there is no monetary investment in the site, those who can't bring themselves to be honest find it less costly than paying to join a site.
