There are two types of extramarital affairs. One is a physical affair and the other is an emotional affair. Under the category of emotional there are several different types of affairs.
A question you often hear is which one is more damaging to your marriage. The experts will tell you the emotional affair is the most damaging. The spouse involved in the extramarital affair may have developed such an emotion bond with the other person that they no longer have feelings for their spouse.
They may be ready for a divorce so they can be with the other person all the time. Especially if the other person is single.
If your spouse has a purely physical affair you may be able to save your marriage if you want that. The big problem with physical affairs is that some times the spouse really enjoys being with different people sexually and does not want to give it up. You may need to get some really good counseling for your spouse to get them give up the physical affairs.
Its an addiction for some people.
Normally a person that loves purely physical affairs does not develop an emotional attachment with the other person. These types of affairs normally run their course in about six months or less. So looking on the good side (if there is one) several things could happen:
. It may be a one time thing for your spouse.
. There is a decent chance your marriage can be saved.
. Since there is no emotional attachment he or she may break it off if they think you are on to them.
. Your spouse does not want a divorce at this point . Although you may if you get the evidence.
. Your marriage probably needs some professional help to find out the reasons for his physical affair and to prevent it from happening again.
An emotional affair is basically an exchange of personal information at some level. Emotional affairs most often develop at work although now with computers and all the dating sites its easy for your spouse to have an online affair. Emotional Affairs Are Very Dangerous To Your Marriage!
Some people will try to tell you an emotional affair is harmless. But experts will tell you that emotional affairs threaten the emotional bond between a husband and wife. The same experts will tell you the emotional connection between a cheating spouse and his or her partner is definitely more dangerous to the marriage than a purely physical affair.
Emotional affairs can occur by intimate correspondence between the two on the cell phone or internet. The extreme danger of an emotional affair is that it can turn into an obsession with the other person or that it can lead to the physical after they have developed the deep bond between each other.
This can be a death sentence for your marriage when your spouse is involved emotionally and physically in an extramarital affair.
