Most people who have a love for scooters have probably bought, at one time or another, some old scooter like a Vespa or some other old world brand, there is noting more fun than riding a scooter that was around for more than sixty years ago. This scooter originates from Italy and it's a scooter that was designed as a replacement of a bicycle and a affordable alternative to a car.
But riding a vintage bike means you need to be always on the look out for scooter parts because whether you want to keep a Vespa or some other Vintage scooter in fine condition you will spend a lot of time at a spare parts dealer or in a garage searching for appropriate scooter parts. If you ride a vintage scooter you need to know there is always a part that needs to be replaced because it is worn out or defect but there are also performance scooter parts available that can enhance your scooter.
There is a Difference Between Performance And Non-Performance Parts
You can categorize scooter parts, broadly speaking, into two kinds of categories, there are performance scooter parts and non-performance parts. When we look at the performance scooter parts there are for example motors that are available in different wattage's and drive types that can be belt drive or chain drive. And motors can be mounted in a number of ways.
We already said it before in order to enhance your scooter you do not only need to replace old and defective parts but also parts that improve the performance of your scooter. For example if you want your scooter to go faster starting with increasing your motor's wattage is a good first step. This will also make your scooter to perform better on climbing hills and inclines and it will improve the torque. By increasing the wattage, there will be other performance scooter parts you will also need to replace like the motor's belt with a chain this is because these belts will much easily wear out when you use them on a motor of higher wattage.
And if you change the belt into a chain you probably also want to replace the wheel that is otherwise driven by the belt. By replacing the belt and belt wheel into a chain you will be able to use motor with the higher wattage which you have chosen. Something else you would like to replace to enhance performance is the number of teeth on the rear sprocket You can either use a sixty-four-tooth sprocket or use one that has eighty teeth If you choose the former, than you need to expect that your scooter will go about a quarter faster as compared with other types of sprockets.
A very important part you can replace with high performance scooter parts are the batteries, these must produce sufficient power and therefore you need a battery with enough amperage, this will make sure that the performance of your scooter is not adversely affected.
You always need to be aware that there are some general factors that will have an effect on the performance of your scooter and these include external factors like temperature, the road surface and much more. If you choose parts for your scooter and keep these factors in mind then you will be able to find just the right parts you need.
