Are you single and looking for the perfect husband or wife? Or just a giant pool of ideal people to date? Well, based on the results of a recent survey by Travel + Leisure magazine, Austin might be the place to go. It appears this Texas town may have some of the hottest, sharpest, friendliest, stylish and athletic people in the nation.
But of course it all depends on what you are looking for in a date: beauty or brains?
According to a survey by Travel + Leisure magazine, the smartest people are in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the hottest are in Miami.
But here's the catch: Miami folks are also some of the dumbest in the survey. Ranked for intelligence, they came in 29 out of 30. Only Las Vegas scored worst out of the 30 major metropolitan areas surveyed by the magazine. But Miami-ans came in only a bit worse than people in Los Angeles who ranked 28 in intelligence, but fourth in attractiveness.
Are you noticing a pattern here? Can you find attractive and intelligent in the same city?
The magazine looked at the people in each city and ranked them in the following categories: friendly, attractive, intelligent, athletic/active, diverse and stylish.
So, as I said, it all depends on what you want. In Minneapolis, you can find a guy or gal in this state ranked highest for intelligence and also ranked 10th for attractiveness -- middle of the road, I guess.
If you want some eye candy, IE; hot men and women, move to Miami, San Diego, Charleston, Los Angeles or Austin. If looks are important to you then I suggest you avoid Boston, San Antonio, Washington D.C., Cleveland, St. Louis and Philadelphia, all ranked at the very bottom of the attractiveness survey!
If you want a good conversation with an intelligent person, these cities ranked in the top five: Minneapolis, Austin, Boston, Portland, OR and Seattle.
Hey, it looks like Austin is the only city that ranks in the top 5 for both intelligence and attractiveness.
The dumbest people (least intelligent you could say to be polite) live in Orlando, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas.
In case any of you care, the most stylish people live in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Charleston ... some of the same cities ranked highest for attractiveness.
The least stylish people are in Portland, OR; Orlando, San Antonio; Cleveland and St. Louis -- again almost the same cities ranked for least attractiveness.
And if looks and intelligence don't matter, you can always move to Nashville, New Orleans, Charleston, Austin or Minneapolis/St. Paul, all ranked in respective top five order for friendliness.
Again, it looks like Austin ranks in the top 5 here, too, making it the best place to find an attractive, intelligent and friendly person in one spot.
Austin also ranks #3 for most athletic/active people.
The only place Austin didn't rank in the top 5 for desirable people qualities was in the diverse category where it only ranked #15. Other than that, it looks like Austin is the place to go if you are looking for the perfect companion!
