Christmas can be the most economically difficult time of the year. However, there are many ways to come across inexpensive Christmas gifts.
Craft It
If you are crafty or have any exceptional talents, you can make a personalized gift. For example, if you have the ability to weave you can make the person a homemade quilt. If you are a closet rhymester or songwriter, you could write a poem or song about the person. Be sure to perform the song or poem and have the original framed.
Coupon
A custom made coupon book may be a an appreciated Christmas gift idea. You could make special coupons for doing chores, organizing, and clean-up for the person. You might also propose to organize their pictures into albums, do a week's worth of dishes for them, or clean their car. If the person is a husband or wife you might want to give loving treats such as foot rubs or schedule regular date nights. A certificate book can be made by printing off blank coupons that can be found on the Internet and bound with staples or string.
Gift Baskets
If you are searching for a gift for an entire family, and don't have an idea what they like, a gift basket could be the best solution. You can fill an affordable basket with homemade cookies or muffins, packets of cocoa mix or coffee beans, coffee or travel mugs, and fresh fruit. A child may love a gift basket filled with toys from the dollar store. Some ideas could include chalk, bouncy balls, jump ropes, balloons, colorful windmills, small stuffed animals, play clay, and sweets.
Teen girls may enjoy a gift basket filled with burettes, clips, combs, lip gloss, nail polish, and a magazine or two. A new mother may like a gift basket filled with pampering bath gels, body creams, and lotions. If you can, include a gift card to a spa, beauty store, or a specialty shop. This could be a decorated plastic container, cardboard box, or a real trunk. Then, select a theme. If your theme is dress-up, you can load the chest with bracelets and other costume jewelry items, hats, old clothing, play batons and swords, boots, ribbons, and pendants. Other theme ideas are cowboys, princesses, knights, nature, spacemen, or extraterrestrial.
So as you can see, with a little thought you can find inspirational Christmas gifts that are reasonably affordable. All it takes is a little bit of research to find out what the recipient's interests are, if you don't already know what they are, and a trip to the local dollar store.
